Twirl the water dragon

The lunar new year or spring festival is celebrated every year by chinese communities around the world. To honour this, here is a quick drawing for illustration friday :

coloured pencil on parchment paper

This year should be an exciting one for everyone. I am really looking forward to what the chinese new year will be bringing me. So far it has started off rather comedically. This morning I wanted to do a load of laundry and was interrupted by a gush of water from the bottom of my washing machine…I didnt know what to think! Its either a sign of ill luck or an auspicious one –can’t wait to find out.

Anyway,  大展鴻圖 ! (Dà zhǎn hóng tú) May you realise your ambitions! Wishing you a happy and prosperous year of the dragon.

  1. Geez, I hope the water leaking out of your washer is good luck! And good for you for seeing good luck in that.

Beautiful and sort of moody drawing. I really like the effect you can get on parchment paper. She has such a serious and thoughtful expression. Lovely!

    1. LOL! Always nice to have you here Cindy D 🙂 Thanks for the great vibes and yes – it just has to be good luck 🙂 By the way, 2012 is the Black Water Dragon year.
